From Discord to Harmony

The piece begins with a simple melody. As the movement progresses, the melody is transformed and becomes more dissonant. A new section of the movement emerges with various polyrhythms. The section becomes very complex and the original melody returns to tie the piece together. The second movement ends with harsh chords and bleeds into the last movement. Movement two is played attacca. it begins with one repeating note with accents on off-beats. This idea is passed to other voices and then harmony is brought into the simple repeating notes. Each section of this movement flow into each other creating a seamless progression. The piece ends with two of the pianos arpeggiating E major and C# minor chords with another simple melody being played in the other piano.
